Why do I need a post-abortion exam?

If access to follow-up care with your abortion provider is not possible, at FirstLook we offer free, confidential post-abortion care because we care about your safety and well-being.
What can I expect?
During your post-abortion appointment at FirstLook, a nurse will do the following:
- Provide a brief physical assessment and pregnancy test (to check for ongoing pregnancy)
- Go over your medical history
- Listen to your questions and concerns
If you’re struggling emotionally, you will also be given the option of speaking with a counselor about your concerns.
